What this site IS: a Voluntary Reporting System
The site is
designed to provide real-time information to individuals
in the event of an outbreak of pandemic flu. It is a
public service for the people of the world. It is a tool
for voluntary, responsible management of a potentially
devastating crisis in order to protect individuals,
their friends and families, and their communities from
infection with a dangerous flu virus.
While
information maybe found on this topic on different sites
like the Center For Disease Control.
In a time of
crisis we feel that redundant and complimentary
resources are a good thing. To this end some of the
resources on this site will do exactly that compliment
and provide a second source for information, while at the
same time providing unique on-line tools for helping
businesses, schools, and individuals manage a difficult
situation should it arise.
What
this site is NOT:
We believe that the first and best response is education
and self-reporting. This site is not intended to create
an atmosphere of fear or practices of exclusion, but
rather to promote a responsible, educated response to
the prospect of a deadly pandemic.
It is not designed to ostracize any individuals
who have been infected with flu.
The identification of areas of outbreaks provides
essential health information so that people can choose
to avoid personal exposure, or, if they suspect they
have been in an area of outbreak, avoid spreading
disease to others.
This site does not purport to be an all-inclusive
medical reference site. Other excellent sites provide
information about seasonal, avian, and pandemic flu will
be referenced throughout this site.
